INTERVIEW - ALI MESSOUDI - FOUNDER- TRANSPARE 💬
Why did you decide to get assistance from the Business Nursery, KEDGE Business School’s business incubator?
I had been a student at KEDGE, so when I started Transpare, it was natural for me to seek assistance from the Business Nursery. Transpare was my first entrepreneurial project, and I wanted to be able to work on it alongside other entrepreneurs and to receive support from the coaches and experts who are at our disposal there.
Can you describe how this support has had an impact?
It really helped me move forward with my project. I received support from the Business Nursery experts from the idea to the platform’s creation. Their help was invaluable in regards to all aspects of entrepreneurship - both the professional side and the personal side. Even today, while Transpare is in a phase of acceleration with a rise in all our indicators, I’m still able to access coaching from the Business Nursery, and benefit from other concrete advantages that are essential in the life of an entrepreneur (partnerships with CRM solutions, presence at trade fairs, etc.).
What was your experience with the lockdown?
The lockdown was an amazing period. It was the source of crisis for some of the companies that had entrusted their business to us; however, it generated tremendous opportunities for Transpare. Because of the urgency, we offered "advisory" support to companies that were importing needed medical equipment into France, such as hydroalcoholic gel, gloves, overalls, masks, etc., to deal with the pandemic.
Between the different emergencies, we took some time during this period to think about how Transpare could adapt. It was then that we decided to no longer limit our platform exclusively to international transport needs. Therefore, we began to diversify our offer by initially integrating road transport, which has been available since August and which has enabled us to experience a good recovery since September.
Looking back, we can see that this period has tested our agility and given us the chance to prove how strong we are!
Have you changed your business model?
Our business model hasn’t changed. It’s still free and without commitment for shippers. They can register with just a few clicks and request a quote in less than five minutes. We charge a commission for each transaction carried out via the platform.
On the other hand, we have expanded the type of shipper that can register, and now any company that has transport needs, no matter what nature, can use Transpare. Our business model can thus eventually diversify with new sources of revenue.
Are you looking for funds? Can you tell us more about your funding needs and how the funds will be used?
We’re currently raising 800,000€ to accelerate our commercial roll-out and develop our technology further.
We’re in the process of closing 450,000€ right now, so we still have 550,000€ left to raise from investors who want to help us make Transpare the leader in online freight transport booking.
