Nicolas Flores, a KEDGE graduate, introduces the first electric jet ski!
After graduating from KEDGE in March 2021 and several years of work and research, Nicolas Flores founded Dolphin Personal Watercraft and unveiled the E-DOLPHIN, the first eco-friendly jet ski!
AN UNENDING PASSION FOR ENGINEERING
Nicolas Flores left secondary school having taken scientific leaving exams in engineering. He then got a diploma (DUT) in mechanical and production engineering. He’s been interested in mechanics and innovation since he was very young. Nicolas is also passionate about motorsports, such as motorcycling, jet skiing, and mountain biking, in which he competes. Unfortunately, in 2011, he was forced to give up racing after a serious accident. But he never gave up his passion. In fact, it’s only grown stronger.
After his accident, Nicolas decided to dedicate himself to the creation of prostheses that would enable people with disabilities to practice their sports within an association.
In 2013, he decided to go back to school and enrolled in KEDGE’s Business Engineering Master programme. He subsequently launched his E-DOLPHIN project in 2017 and then launched Dolphin Personal Watercraft in 2018.
THE FIRST ECO-FRIENDLY JET SKI
After four years of investment and testing, his eco-friendly jet ski is now a reality. In March 2021, he officially unveiled his jet ski, which is equipped with a battery that is 90% recyclable. In comparison, a conventional jet ski emits an average of 140 tonnes of CO2 over its lifetime, which is equivalent to the pollution generated by more than 100 French citizens! Additionally, this jet ski is silent, which eliminates the noise pollution that is often blamed on the jet skis currently on the market.
Apart from its environmentally friendly characteristics, this jet ski is also very efficient, with a maximum speed of 90km/h and a running time of three hours. The futuristic design is inspired by marine mammals. "The perfect equation between intense pleasures, excitement, and respect for nature". .
WHAT THE THE FUTURE HOLDS …
With nearly 3,000 sales in France and 13,000 in the United States, this engineer is planning to expand into the jet-ski market. For that, Nicolas plans to perfect the E-DOLPHIN, in particular by reducing its weight. Such innovations are very expensive, and he plans to raise 1 million euros in 2022. A project that you haven't heard the last of...
