Your mission, their ideas: boost your innovation with...
Zoom on Emmanuelle Szerer (Class of 2010) and her clothing brand Almé Paris, which makes all women, from size 36 to 54 (UK 8 to 26), beautiful!
Founded by Emmanuelle Szerer in 2016, Almé Paris is a French clothing brand that celebrates all women and all body types.
Emmanuelle's experience is the same as that of many French women: fashion standards are unrealistic and choice is almost non-existent. In France, almost half of all women wear a size 44 (UK 16), yet they have 54 times less choice in ready-to-wear clothing than women who wear a size 36 (UK 8)! Emmanuelle wanted to correct this unfair treatment and created a collection of clothes that would enhance the beauty of all women. Thus, Almé was born.
Almé is about giving women back their confidence with clothing that fits their body shape, has a sophisticated cut, and is made of the right materials. Pieces are mainly fabricated in France and Europe and are offered at affordable prices.
The brand is leading a revolution in the textile sector through pre-orders based on a digital distribution model which guarantees conscious and responsible fashion. This business model limits unnecessary production by adjusting the quantities made to the demands of consumers. Less stock means fewer unsold items and fewer markdowns! Best-sellers are shipped within 24 hours while stocks last.
INTERVIEW WITH EMMANUELLE, FOUNDER OF ALMÉ PARIS
Hello Emmanuelle. Would you tell us about your company and describe what you do?
Almé is revolutionising plus size fashion. Our clothing fits women from size 36 to 54 (UK 8 to 26), and we have a responsible production process based exclusively on pre-orders. Production is done in France and Europe. Almé has been experiencing rapid growth since 2020 and our turnover will exceed one million euros in 2021. We also raised 1 million euros from business angels in June 2021.
My job consists of creating and designing collections, finding the perfect fabric, and choosing the colour range for the season. Then I write technical specifications so that we can work with our workshops and create prototypes. We try them on women with different body types several times to make sure the garment drapes perfectly. The last steps are the photoshoot, the advertising, and then the marketing on our website.
Almé combines fashion know-how with digital know-how. All our purchasing is done by our digital teams. Our line can also be found at the Printemps des Terrasses du Port in Marseille but most of our sales are generated through our website.
Our offices are based in the South of France and we are looking to recruit. We are certain that together we will continue to grow. Everyone who has come on board has brought their richness of personality, know-how, and energy to the brand. Almé is a real bubble of joy where we do everything we can to make women happy. And they return the favour. We receive dozens of heartfelt messages every day thanking us for creating fashion that's for everyone, in our own way.
What are your development objectives for the future?
At present, our ambition is for Almé to become one of the leading French ready-to-wear fashion companies, with a commitment to clothing sizes 36 to 54 (UK 8 to 26). Next, we will expand our customer base in Europe and eventually in the United States.
