Who are the hosts of the KEDGE Alumni Luxembourg branch?

KEDGE Alumni has many branches around the world, which gives local Alumni the chance to meet each other, expand their network, share their respective experiences, and to have a good time together.

Today, meet the portraits of the dynamic hosts of our Alumni branch in Luxembourg.

💬 THURIAN MAHEO (Cesemed, 2012) - LUXEMBOURG

Tell us what a little about your professional background. What positions have you held up to now? What about your educational and professional background led you to your current position?

Although Breton by origin, I began my post-secondary education in Marseille with a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, and economics, with a focus on countries in the Asian continent, specifically Malaysia, Singapore, and China. To combine theory and practice and learn Chinese, I did internships in the economic departments of the French Embassies in Malaysia and Singapore.

In order to improve my understanding of the Asian languages and cultures, I decided to get my master at Grenoble Business School in Beijing. I finished up by doing an International Corporate Volunteer placement in China as a market analyst (working language was Chinese) at a large food company.

In 2016 that I decided to end my international internship and seized an opportunity to join the KBL European private banking (now Quintet Private Bank) programme, in which I became familiar with the fundamentals of private banking, met many people with very different profiles, and learned a variety of jobs. 

After three rewarding years at Quintet Private Bank, I wanted to get closer to the business world and find an environment where I could once again use the Chinese language in a professional context. I got a job at ICBC as a corporate banker (Credit Analyst/Relationship Manager) at the beginning of 2019. My activities mainly consisted of developing the customer base, performing credit analyses on existing and potential customers, and strengthening existing relationships with our customers. 

I enjoy sailing with my friends in my free time, which gives me the chance to find great places to relax while spending time in nature.

Now you live in Luxembourg. What do you like about the country, more specifically in this city? How is it different from France? 

I like the professional dynamism of this small country.

You now manage the KEDGE Alumni Branch of Luxembourg. What motivated you to volunteer? 

When I was at Euromed, I developed a particular fondness for both Marseille and for school. For me, being in charge of the local branch of KEDGE Alumni gives me the opportunity to connect with others who have similar memories, as well as the ability to offer opportunities for the school’s alumni to provide each other assistance and to share information and experiences.

What are your goals for this branch? What are your projects?

We want to organise events where Alumni can meet up, get to know each other, and help each other in a casual setting.

How did becoming a branch manager go? Was it easy to work with the KEDGE Alumni? 

We organised an event that was a success. Then, the arrival of COVID 19 prevented us from organising other events.

Lastly, what message would you like to pass on to graduates and students are passing through, or who live in Luxembourg?

There are great career opportunities here in both the fund industry and in back office positions in the financial sector here. Be sure to contact us if you come to work here.

💬 LAKSHINA GUNPUTRAR (MSc. 2019) - LUXEMBOURG

Tell us what a little about your professional background. What positions have you held up to now? What about your educational and professional background led you to your current position?

I currently hold the position of Financial Auditor, recently upgraded to senior.

My educational background was a bit unusual. After doing a year in medicine, I changed directions and got a technology degree in to work in the legal sector, and then got a bachelor's degree in accounting and management in universities in Paris. That's how I was able to get into the MSc in Auditing and Performance Management programme offered at KEDGE Marseille.

I’ve had several different intern and apprenticeships in banks and bank subsidiaries. Those experiences were a real asset in getting my current position.

Now you live in Luxembourg. What do you like about the country, more specifically in this city? How is it different from France?

Luxembourg is very a pleasant place to live, especially for young workers. It’s a cosmopolitan city and people are very open and respectful. Additionally, nature isn’t far away, so I can keep a good balance in my life and practice sports. Culture is also very present here and accessible, whether regarding the city and its history, or artistic. For example, the Philharmonie de Luxembourg has a rich and diversified programme.

You now manage the KEDGE Alumni Branch of Luxembourg. What motivated you to volunteer?

I spontaneously applied and went quickly because the former head of the Luxembourg Alumni branch was my line manager with whom I work closely. I was able to ask him questions about the role and what needed to be done, and liked what he told me.

What are your goals for this branch? What are your projects?

I was quite surprised at the number of former KEDGE (and Euromed) students in Luxembourg, so my goals are simple: grow the KEDGE network, and make it easier to connect with each other. So Thurian and I plan to organise several events throughout the year to give the chance for the Alumni who live here can meet and share experiences.

How did becoming a branch manager go? Was it easy to work with the KEDGE Alumni team?

Getting started went very well, thanks to Brigitte Van Roy who took the time to guide me in the new role.

Lastly, what message would you like to pass on to graduates and students are passing through, or who live in Luxembourg?

Have patience, because beautiful surprises are in store for you in this magnificent little country that is Luxembourg.
