Three Kedgers export Breton cuisine to Wellington!Kedge Kedge
In February, three KEDGE BS students are headed to New Zealand to sell Breton crepes from a food-trike.
As part of their gap year between the Master 1 and Master 2, Dimitri Harmel, Simon Grellier and Albéric Houtart, aged between 23 and 24 years are the beginning of February are going to Wellington, the capital of New Zealand with the objective of sharing “galettes bretonnes” (Breton crepes) from a tricycle.
"Our education at Kedge taught Dimitri, Albéric, and me how to work together, because we came from the same graduating class. This has made our relationship easier because we know how to use each other’s strength to work and progress together. Then courses we took taught us how to develop connected business, coding skills, and marketing skills,” explained Simon.
To succeed their "Big Billig" project, they will have to travel to the capital and find people ready to be tempted by the buckwheat crepe originating in France! In addition, sweet crepes will also be offered even though they are already known in New Zealand.
"We will use classic recipes, but also create original recipes with products that are very popular there, such as sweet potato or beetroot. We also had a recipe contest on Facebook, that worked very well. We received more than 100 responses. Winners will have the crepe imagined by them named after them," said Dimitri.
Our three Kedgers will sell their crepes from a mobile trike which is equipped with two billigs (two circular cast iron plates used to cook pancakes and crepes) with Cdiscount. The giant Bordeaux e-commerce has contributed to the project by providing all equipment needed: plancha, billigs, utensils, camera, and even a drone.
In addition to the tricycle, the three friends are taking their mascot, Big Billig the rooster!
The money earned from this collective project will allow them to enjoy a well-deserved vacation to visit the fabulous landscapes of New Zealand! They will not leave until the Maori have discovered the best French cuisine. Finally, the three childhood friends invite New Zealand Kedgers to share some crepes, (and also to help them in finding accommodations in Wellington).
Kiwis, get ready!
The team is still looking for a partner to finance its tricycle.
