Meet an EBP Alumni who founded a Management Consulting Company
Claudio Romano graduated from the EBP programme in 1997 and for a long time worked between Paris and London for major companies such as Deloitte, FIFA, or Airbus. Today, he is launching is own Management Consulting Company
Hello, Claudio! To begin with, can you tell us about your educational and professional background?
I completed the European Business Programme (EBP) in Portsmouth and Bordeaux. My lifelong passion has been for new beginnings and global affairs. After obtaining by European Baccalauréat in Varese (Italy), where I lived for 15 years and met people from five different nationalities, the EBP was a natural choice. My internships brought me to Paris (Peugeot Automobiles) and London (Rank Xerox). At the end of my studies, my thesis was selected as "Best Thesis" during the graduation ceremony.
After four years of studying, I joined the graduates programme at Merrill Lynch, an investment bank, in London where I worked in several positions (operations management for by-products, brokerage projet manager, and sales trader on the stock market). May passion for the projects enabled me to move into management consulting and I worked for Accenture and Deloitte in Paris. During this time, I worked for major transformation projects for banks (fusions, deploying new technologies, re-organisations) as well in the aeronautics industry, where I worked on separation, conversions, and the sale of seven factories at Airbus, for example. A personal choice then brought me to Zurich, where I worked for FIFA (International Federation of Association) and developed a series of services such as a trading platform for professional players, a tool to transfer players, and a data analytics service for 6,500 clubs and more than 200 international football federations.
We moved back to Paris in 2017 and I decided to create Develt Consulting, a Management Consulting Company, specialised in building and piloting complex projects. After my first missions, I hope to hire young consultants. And, if all goes well, I also hope to work with the public sector, specifically on the modernisation of the civil service....
I am looking for clients and/or partners in France, so don't hesitate to ask for the programme if you are interested!
How did your time at KEDGE Business School help you get to where you are today, how did what you learn at Kedge help you in the development of your project?
I spent some of the best years of my life at Kedge Business School and met people from many different nationalities, while developing a French and English-style know-how. I learned how to open up to others, manage change, and identify opportunities off the beaten path. EBP was also a school of life for me and I met some of my best friends in the programme. It is also thanks to them that I found the courage to start my own company.
