Your mission, their ideas: boost your innovation with...
Hello Caitlyn. Could you tell us about your educational background?
I did a university exchange at KEDGE Business School in 2016 – 2017. At the same time, I was getting a Master in International Business and Languages at Strathclyde University in Glasgow. I studied specialty marketing and French.
I was very interested in the impact on social networks on the tourism industry. I did courses in marketing, project management, and internet project development at KEDGE BS.
Would you tell us about your job?
I work in human resources at Strathclyde University in Glasgow. I’m in charge of promoting the university and higher learning to prospective students. Currently my duties at Strathclyde and organise campus events, for such as the Open Door Days in Scotland, but also in Northern Ireland, England, and Wales.
What differences do you see in terms of the working culture between France and Scotland?
One of the striking differences in that of administrations. In France, you have to perform more administrative tasks. For example, when I was there, I had to complete a lot more forms, whether for KEDGE, housing, or even for TBM! It’s somewhat difficult to find information coming from Scotland, which is one of the differences I’ve noticed. Things seem easier in Scotland.
What are your goals for the future?
Currently, I’m the recruitment agent for all of the UK students. I love my job. My goal is to continue to work abroad, outside the UK. I’d love the opportunity to travel more in the future.
What advice would you give to a student who sees themselves going abroad, particularly to Scotland?
My advice is to go for it! Jump into new things!
Start by talking to the locals and do things that are not touristic. Impregnate yourself in the country’s culture and increase your fluency in a language. The important thing is to never be afraid of making mistakes, that’s how you learn.
