INTERVIEW:
Hello Chloé! Please say a few words about yourself.
My name is Chloé RENGEL. I’m originally from Corsica but have been living in Göteborg in Sweden for a year and a half on a V.I.E. contract with Volvo Group as an Adaptation Buyer.
What degree did you get at KEDGE? What do you remember from there?
I got a Business Engineering degree from KEDGE BS on its Toulon Campus.
What I remember the most about the school is the bond there was between students. Also, the many Pro-Act projects that punctuated the life of the school.
What did you get out of the four internships you did? Do you recommend this way of training?
My four internships were real experiences that I can use to sell and highlight myself to the job market.
I strongly recommend this type of training. It’s made it easier each time to get the different positions I’ve had, as well as my V.I.E. contract.
In your opinion, what are the iconic places in Göteborg? Which one is the one you wouldn’t hesitate to recommend?
The city, in general, is very pretty. You can find nice little cafés where you can have a “Fika” break, and there are restaurants that are very nice with soft lights. But the most important is the nature side of things, with all the islands and lakes around the city.
I recommend “Rustik Bistro” on avenue Linnégatan without hesitation. You can get very good food there, its ambiance is super nice, and the servers are very friendly.
Is the Swedish culture so different than what you’d think?
Swedish culture is still a European culture. There are some major differences in terms of posture. For example, you don’t approach people in the same manner and don’t act exactly the same with them. And obviously, the cuisine and specialties are different…
But you adapt easily enough and, after time, begin to love this new culture.
What are your future plans?
I’m staying stay with Volvo, in the same position, and with the same team, but my purchasing portfolio is changing and I'm returning to France in April, at Renault Trucks in Saint-Priest, near Lyon.
What would you tell graduates and future graduates about going abroad?
I strongly recommend that you try being an expat. It’s a very rewarding experience that lets you open up to people. It’s also a valuable experience to have for the job market. So, go on. Don’t hesitate!
