KEDGE joins the Times Higher Education Impact Ranking dedicated to the Sustainable Development Goals and stands out among French institutions
KEDGE is included for the first time in the the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings and is ranked 7th among French institutions. Published on 21 April 2021, the Times Higher Education (THE) magazine’s annual university ranking assesses the world’s universities on their impact on achieving the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It measures the impact of universities on society over and above their research and teaching performance.
The results of the third edition of the ranking confirm the school’s very good results in terms of its commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Out of 1,115 participating higher education institutions, including 18 in France, KEDGE is the only French management school ranked behind 6 other French institutions. In the general international ranking, it is in the 201-300 range, i.e. in the top quarter of the ranking.
KEDGE recognized for its research production and responsible approaches on campus.
The school’s best performance is found in SDG 12 (responsible consumption and production) in which KEDGE is ranked in the top 63 worldwide and first in France thanks to its research production and its actions on campus (recycling and measures to reduce waste).
Numerous initiatives have enabled KEDGE to rank in the top 10% on several objectives:
- Actions to reduce food waste and work with students to improve nutrition (SDG 2 - Zero Hunger),
- Student and graduate employability schemes (SDG 8 - decent work and economic growth),
- Commitment to a carbon neutrality trajectory and production in research (SDG 13 - climate),
- Many national and international partnerships and their follow-up (SDG 17 - partnerships for achieving the goals).
“KEDGE has long been committed to the subject of the societal and environmental impact of its training and research activities. This commitment has been reinforced in the Kedge25 strategic plan. This good result in THE’s Impact ranking is an encouraging signal that invites us to redouble our efforts and to deploy our communication on the subject more widely to mobilise our entire community.” declares Anil Benard-Dende, Deputy Managing Director of KEDGE.
An action plan and a strategic project to strengthen the impact and value of its CSR strategy
The Times Higher Education Impact Ranking adds to the recognised networks and awards on which KEDGE’s strategy and commitment to sustainable development and CSR are based.
In 2019, the school obtained the DD & RS label, which is the reference label in sustainable development and societal responsibility for universities and grandes écoles.
KEDGE has also chosen to use the Positive Impact Rating to assess its performance on these issues. It is a system of students’ evaluation of the impact and positive influence of schools in addressing societal challenges. The PIR also measures their capacity to be a lever for change and transformation in the business school landscape. The school’s goal is to move from Level 3 to Level 4 “transforming” by 2025 and thus join the top ten institutions worldwide.
KEDGE has strengthened its positioning and ambitions in terms of CSR and has created a strategic project to communicate on its actions: KEDGE IMPAKT. The school has grouped together all the initiatives and organisations involved in CSR and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals under this unique and meaningful banner.
