Too polluting, a kedger finds an alternative to the cotton swab!
A 2017 KEDGE in 2017, Kaoutar N'Gairi is associated with the Eeears startup: the reusable ecological cotton swab.
From 2014 to 2017, Kaoutar N'Gairi did her Master in International Purchasing & Innovation Management (MAI) at KEDGE BS.
After she received her degree, she associated with an innovative concept for an ear cleaner that is reusable and lasts five years. Eeears was born as a response to the Biodiversity Act, which will prohibit any sale of disposable plastic products from the beginning of 2020.
Currently, cotton swabs number among the 10 most frequent items found on beaches and in the oceans. “Our aim is to support changes in consumer habits,” explained Kaoutar.
This hygienic product is made entirely with medical-grade silicone. In the form of a spiral, it lets you remove surplus wax from your ear without damaging the protective surface. What’s more, it limits ear injuries caused by the cotton swabs currently in use. “The material used is flexible and doesn’t pose a danger to the eardrum,” she said.
The product is attracting more and more consumers. 30,000 Eeears have already been sold in more than 30 countries, mainly through its website.
Finally, the startup was selected in the magazine Challenges for its annual "100 start-ups to invest in", with a goal of raising 1 million euros by the end of 2019. They also received a prize as a result of our partnership with the Le Roch-Les Mousquetaires Foundation.
