Two kedgers are going to China for a good cause!
KEDGE students, Tim Defois and Yann Delbarre are going to cycle from Bordeaux to Suzhou.This15,000km effort is intended to help the NGO, Planète Urgence.
Hello to both of you. Would you tell us about your project in a few words?
Our project is called En Roue Libre (freewheeling). We’re travelling from Bordeaux to Suzhou, China, entirely by bicycle - a distance of 14,000 km. It will take about 8 to 10 months, during which we’ll have to find food, sleep in a tent or with a local, cover an average distance of 70 km a day, and discover cultures that are as different from us as they are interesting. So, it’s a life experience that we have thought out, planned and organised for over a year now. We’ve created and put in place communications, logistics, marketing/canvassing, and the administrative and technical aspects of the project to get to where it is today, and hopefully, to reach our goal of cycling 14,000 kilometres.

How are you going to finance this venture?
How did your education at KEDGE help you in this project?
Any tips for kedgers who’d like to do what you are doing?
Go for it! These types of projects demand a lot of time, but they are also the most exciting kind that to undertake. The discovery, the adventure, the challenge … these are what drives us to continue and are probably the things that what will push us to keep going and finish the trip. It’s a project that is as much a teacher as it is a unique experience, and we think that each person should do something like this before tackling professional life. It tells us a lot about ourselves and about the world around us.
