Created by a Kedger, BoatOn has raised 150,000 euros!
Bertrand Gerbaud-Morlaës, a 2013 KEDGE Business School graduate, has developed BoatOn, the first free app that makes life easier for boaters.
Originally from the southwest of France, near Biarritz, Bertrand Gerbaud-Morlaës began attending KEDGE in 2009 after doing prep courses at Sainte Geneviève school in Paris. A graduate of the Grande École Programme, Bertrand is now the President and Founder of BoatOn. With the support of Unitec (a start-up support organisation in the Bordeaux region), BoatOn is a Bordeaux start-up that was launched in the spring of 2018. This app makes it possible to control all of a boat’s equipment at a glance. It also helps connect boaters with verified professionals in areas such as maintenance, winter storage, or insurance.
BoatOn offers several services through both its website and a free mobile app (BoatOn Pro):
- An intelligent maintenance notebook;
- A simple and fast reservation system;
- A unique database in France to get maintenance services at the best price / quality ratio;
- Personalized insurance in 1 click.
Developed within the KEDGE incubator at the Business Nursery of Bordeaux, this start-up currently has more than 3,000 users on its app, and works with noteworthy partners like La MAIF and Samboat. Last October, BoatOn won Etourisme’s award for best start-ups.
A fundraising of 150,000 euros:
Recently, the young entrepreneur has raised 150,000 euros to create innovative technological tools, such as an intelligent algorithm to better respond to requests (maintenance, development, expertise, etc.), as well as to improve the user experience and enable the globalisation of the BoatOn Pro app.
"This fundraising allows us to accelerate the development of our product and offer even more innovative solutions to all boaters. It also represents recognition by leading players in innovation in France, such as BPI. Thanks to their support, we will be able to respond to the requests of our users, in particular by offering faster, intuitive, and intelligent services," said Bertrand Gerbaud.
