Class of 1984: 40 years on, a reunion full of memories...
Created by a KEDGE Alumnus, Ornikar, the leader in online driver's licenses, has raised 10 million euros!
After incurring the wrath traditional driving chools, Benjamin Gaignault (ESC 2011) has continued developing Ornikar, the leader in online driving classes.
A lot has changed since we last spoke to you about Ornikar, the startup created by Benjamin Gaignault, who graduated from KEDGE Business School in 2011 (that was back in 2014, in one of our "alumni of the week" articles").
At the time, Benjamin and his associate planned to revolutionise online driving classes! They had imagine the first online driving school that offered driving classes at a reduced rate. Students would be able to geo-locate driving instructors in their area and reserve driving lessons in just a few clicks! It was such a good idea that traditional driving schools panicked, raised their shields and contacted the government.
Four years later and despite the attacks from professionals in the sector, the company is still up and running, and was even able to raise 10 million euros to accelerate its growth!
Ornikar is already present in 25 cities in France and now wants to conquer other European countries. To do so, the company wants to double its staff with the funds invested by Idinvest Partners, Partech Ventures, Elaia Partners and Brighteye Ventures. It must be said that the model and the results have been convincing: by offering an online training programme that is up to two times more affordable than a traditional driving school, the company has managed to attract around 200,000 users. 90% of users have passed the written test, and 72% have passed the driving test, these results "are far superior to the national average of traditional driving schools" claims the startup. The company is estimated to grow by 17% every month.
By summer 2018, the company also wants to expand its activities to includes sales of cars and insurance to young drivers.
We wish Benjamin the best of luck as he pursues this wonderful entrepreneurial adventure!
