2024 is all about you: your successes, your...
With the help of a graduate, two KEDGE students are cycling across France to raise funds for an association!
As part of their student project, two Kedgers have set themselves a sports challenge: to cycle from the Marseille campus to the Bordeaux campus. This project will be carried out on behalf of the association Espoir SLA, which fights against a rare disease.
They have two main objectives:
- Raise awareness of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Charcot's disease, a serious and incurable neurodegenerative disease;
- Raise funds for Espoir SLA, an association that invests in research against this disease. Each kilometre covered will be sponsored via a crowdfunding campaign on behalf of the association: 1 km = €1 donated to medical research against Charcot’s disease.
Itinerary:
-
Begin on 1 June 2021 at 2 pm from the Bordeaux campus and finish on 17 June in Marseille;
-
Cycle travel 690 km divided into 15 stages;
-
During the journey, they will stop in Montpellier to visit the Espoir SLA headquarters to present the cheque for the funds raised during the crowdfunding campaign.

The KEDGE Alumni network at the heart of the project
With the help of the alumni network, Julien and Antoine were put in touch with Baptiste Brachon, a graduate from KEDGE’S Grande Ecole Programme and head of the cycling department at Decathlon in Bordeaux-Mérignac. He provided them with two bicycles and the necessary equipment for their project.
“The Decathlon Mérignac cycle team is proud to be a part of the "KM de l'Espoir" project because it’s in line with our values and those of the brand: vitality, responsibility, generosity, and authenticity. These values are the very heart of this project. Moreover, we are confident that Antoine and Julien will promote the company’s knowledge and make our range of Riverside all-terrain bikes better known. Decathlon is a partner of KEDGE. Our role is not only to recruit new talent but is also to support projects like this one.” - Baptiste Brachon, Department Manager at Decathlon and KEDGE Alumnus.
