Zoom on the career path of Lionel le Maux, a 1995 KEDGE graduate and current President of Aqua Asset Management, a sustainable investment player committed to building a low-carbon world.
A 1995 graduate of KEDGE Business School in Marseille, Lionel Le Maux has more than 20 years of experience in listed and unlisted investments in France and Europe, and has acquired significant expertise in the environmental sector over the past ten years.
After getting his degree from KEDGE, he started his career in 1996 with the ODDO group at which he managed French and European funds (ranked 1st “decile” over the management period).
After gaining experience in that position, he co-founded FLINVEST in 2003, a management company whose assets grew from 15 to 600 million euros in nearly 5 years, thanks to an exceptional performance (fund ranked N°1 in Europe between 2004 & 2006 by Citywire).
In May 2008, Lionel co-founded the company EVERGAZ, which became one of the leaders of the biogas industry in Europe with an increase in turnover from 200 thousand euros to 45 million euros. Its value has increased sixfold over the period 2008-2018.
Lastly, in January 2017 he founded Aqua Asset Management, an independent management company that specialises in investing in medium-sized businesses in the process of growth, and has positioned itself as an actor in sustainable investment, committed to building a decarbonised world.
As an active partner of companies that make the ecological transition the driver of their growth, Aqua Asset Management supports companies in their transition to scale with its Transition Evergreen Fund.
"Our mission is to turn the French SMEs focused on the ecological transition into major players in their respective sectors. To do that, we play the role of an incubator, not for start-ups but for actual SMEs, to help them accelerate, with an investment strategy that combines entrepreneurial logic and territorial anchoring.
The idea is to offer these companies a common umbrella under which to shelter them, and which allows them to conduct (not to mention any synergies), collective and concerted action. The aim of this strategy is to help those companies become large enough to move from the status of an SME to that of an ETI that is active in the ecological transition." - Lionel Le Maux, President.
