KEDGE is starting to produce protection equipment for health care professionals
Design School has used its equipment to produce 5,000 3D printed visors.
"The main reason for our initiative is the growing need for protective equipment for caregivers. The visors are easy to produce with a 3D printer, and the country’s community of fabricators have joined together to produce them. So, we decided to gather our machines from the school and install them at our Fabmanager Maxime to take part in this collective effort. This community of southern makers has made more than 5,000 visors, and production is constantly increasing. A pool has been created to help producers obtain the raw materials. One group takes care of all the logistics, collection, assembly, and distribution, and a dashboard showing the production from one day to the next is updated at 7 pm. KEDGE Design School produces between 20 and 30 of the frames per day and about a hundred clips for attaching transparent plastic sheets. The producers are asking for donations of rubber bands and sheets, and are seeking regional grants for the raw materials. Some are also looking to buy 3D printers.
In addition, the fact that we have collected our printers lets us produce our students' models remotely and send them by courier. This is a service that we felt could make up for their inability to access our workshops, and that needed to be implemented so students could complete their projects without stress.”
