2024 is all about you: your successes, your...
Only a year after buying his company, this KEDGE Alumnus has recruited 12 additional employees!
Jean-Pierre CAPEL (PMG, class of 2017) bought Dev6Group, a computer engineering company and digital environment company in the Gironde region. A year later, the takeover has been a success.
Hello, Jean-Pierre. To begin, tell us about your background: how did you get to where you are today, and what ate your plans for the future?
I undertook this degree programme as part of the Validation of acquired experience (VAE) framework, and I received support from KEDGE consultants who helped me validate the different programmes. It was a long road, but I learned a lot. Then, I primarily held positions within companies before embarking on my current adventure. I worked in major companies where I was employed in managerial positions, from sales engineer to regional director. Today, I have all of the know-how I needed to obtain my degree via the VAE programme.
In April 2016, I bought a company called Dev6Group, which specialised in computer engineering and digital environments. When I took over the company, a year ago, there were only two employees and one client. Today, there are 14 employees and four major clients.
We want to pursue our development, increasing our presence in Bordeaux, and with a positive REX, but we also want to expand to other French cities by opening local branches.
How did your time at KEDGE Business School help you become who you are today, and how did what you learn help you develop your project?
I received support from two consultants who shared their experience. J'ai été accompagné par deux consultants qui m'ont apporté leur expérience. During my final evaluation, I valided 5 out of 6 programmes. I needed special support and training. The KEDGE consultants helped me grasp and understand the subjects in a more efficient way.
If you had one piece of advice for KEDGE Alumni who would like to do something similar, what would it be?
"The secret to success is to surround yourself with the right people." When you decide to start your own business you need to be aware of all of the factors that contribute to success, and for that, KEDGE consultants provide valuable support because they all master a subject that helps you calibrate your business plan and determine your strategy.
