Meeting with Laura, a KEDGE Alumna living in Prague

Students from the Pro-act KEDGER Trotter continue their world tour, during which they meet many expatriate alumni.  Today, they interviewed Laura, a KEDGE alumni who has lived in Prague for more than a year.

Hello.  Could you introduce yourself in a few words?

My name is Laura Mouysset, I am 23 years old, and I live in Prague!  I received my diploma from CESEMED at KEDGE Business School in Marseille in 2016!

Tell us about your training while you studied at KEDGE, as well as your first professional experiences.  Additionally, what is it that spurred you to move abroad?

My first experience was a summer internship in Italy, where I volunteered helping the handicapped learn English.  I also had another internship at the Italian Chamber of Commerce for France in Marseille, which was focused on marketing and communication.

I had a second university exchange in Taiwan and, following that, I had the chance to be able to go to Malaysia for another internship, still at the Chamber of Commerce, but this time more oriented on human resources.

After my degree, I was immediately hired by Amazon in Prague as an HR assistant.

I’ve always been very curious, and I love traveling. What’s more, I think that it is interesting to work in an international environment, where one can develop an open mind, their skills, and a network.

Can you tell us about your occupation? Is it related to the training you received at KEDGE?

My training was rather general and international, like my job. I’ve been a human resources assistant for a year and a half. I provide support to the employees of Amazon in the United Kingdom, from their first day to their departure.  More precisely, we manage their contracts, transfers, absences… but we also take care of  HR project management, improve processes, launch new sites.

What are, in your opinion, the essential qualities to carry out your job?

First of all, the Amazon motto is to be “customer-obsessed”.  You must also be very accurate, flexible, creative, know how to win the confidence of stakeholders, work as part of a team, and work in an international setting.

Is business culture different when one is an expatriate?

Of course , but I think  the culture depends more on the company rather than the country.

Amazon is an American company located in the Czech Republic!  It’s a truly international company that is open-minded, fairly new, and that has quickly evolved. I work with lots of nationalities, and it makes every day a truly special day.

All of the major companies have an office in Prague, so when you are looking for a job, it's a real plus.

Personally, I think that the cost of living is rather expensive, and that people are more "closed-off" than in France at first. However, life in Prague is really nice, there are lots of places to go out, or to discover.

Does your company welcome trainees?

Amazon welcomes trainees from France and abroad. Fluent English is mandatory.  For more information, don’t hesitate to contact me via LinkedIn, email, or consult our job board:  https://www.amazon.jobs/
