Class of 1984: 40 years on, a reunion full of memories...
This hosting agency was founded by a KEDGE BS Alumnus and doubles its revenues every year.
During her studies at KEDGE, Marielle, class of 2013, quickly realised the potential for growth of the events sector. She created the Agence MG, which hasn't ceased to grow since it was first launched.
Marielle GASSEND, a 2013 alumnus, began her studies at KEDGE Business School by pursuing a Bachelor's in Financial Management. "The programme taught me to be detail oriented and to fully follow through with things. During our classes, we were often confronted with very real life situations, which made it much easier for me when I started my career since I had already dealt with similar issues in class." Marielle explains.
As part of her Bachelor's degree, she also took advantage of the ERASMUS programme, which allowed her to improve her English - a crucial language in the events sector. She then pursued a Master's in Entertainment and Media Management at KEDGE Business School. While pursuing her studies, she regularly worked as a hostess for Conventions or at the Velodrome Stadium. She had a real knack for the job and was quickly promoted to lead hostess and learned how to manage a team and nurture client relationships.
Marielle is also passionate about horseback riding, and continued to practice the sport at a semi-professional level during her studies, even participating in competitions. "Horseback riding really helps me unwind. You have to be so concentrated during your performance, that for several minutes everything else disappears! The expression "You have to know how to get back up when you fall" really makes sense when it comes to horseback riding!" Marielle explains.
Once she finished her degree and having enjoyed her experience working as a hostess, she decided to start her own company: the Agence MG.
Her company has a number of clients and manages hosts and hostesses for various events (product launches, galas, company holiday parties, etc.) or at companies (receptionist, phone reception, mail, etc.).
"It is a family-style company, everyone is very close. We maintain a close relationship with our staff, whom we consider as our main clients. Our basic assumption is that if the people we work with feel good, if they feel like their well-being is important to us, then they will do their best to deliver quality work, and our clients will be even happier." she explains.
Since her company was first launched, it hasn't stopped growing: revenues nearly double every year and prestigious clients, such as the LVMH Group, regularly join the company's client portfolio.
Her advice to future KEDGE graduates: "Go for it! Starting your own company can be difficult, and you are constantly questioning yourself, but it is also so thrilling. We have no idea how strong and determined we can be!"
