KEDGE professor Virginie Martin was interviewed by the popular YouTube channel Thinkerview
Virginie Martin has been a professor-researcher at KEDGE Business School for almost 20 years and is a political scientist. On 4 February, she was interviewed by Thinkerview, a YouTube news channel.
Virginie Martin took prep classes for literary training, followed by a master degree in modern literature, after which she attended SciencesPo in Paris and did a postgraduate course on the relationship between unemployment and politics. She highlighted the link between unemployment, a lack of interest in politics, as well as the vote for the National Front (FN).
In 1996, she wrote her first book, "Toulon la noire", which was published by DeNoël.
She received a research grant from the French Centre for Political Science of SciencesPo (CEVIPOF). In 2000, under the direction of Dominique Reynié and Pascal Perrineau, she wrote a thesis on the National Front in municipal power, experiences, and representation schemes: “The Toulon Situation: analysis of "non-directive" interviews”.
After a stint at the Ministry for Women's Rights, she continued her career as a researcher at CEVIPOF.
She’s been a professor-researcher at KEDGE Business School since 2000 and has developed a research programme on gender issues. Within the framework of her research, she regularly collaborates with the Centre for Gender Studies at the University of Cambridge and IESE in Barcelona. Her approach is also in line with the current so-called post-colonial feminism and questions the issue of plural feminisms, particularly in Islam lands.
In 2012, Virginie Martin co-founded the political laboratory “Think Tank Different” with Pierre Lénel, a sociologist at LISE CNRS. This laboratory is based in Paris and proposes a different and decentralised way of thinking of leader representations, both geographically and intellectually.
In 2015, Virginie Martin was appointed to the Economic, Social and Environmental Council and associated with the Education, Culture and Communication Section.
In 2016, created and led KEDGE Business School's "Entertainment and Media" excellence programme. She was awarded the Legion of Honour in the same year.
