KEDGE has kept its promise and has welcomed 2,100 students in its work-study programme for the 2020 academic year
Faced with the recent health and economic crisis, last spring KEDGE announced that it was implementing numerous actions to both help its students and support the development of its national partner companies and the SMEs/VSEs in its territories. The school has kept its commitment to practically double the number of places in its work-linked training programmes. Now, 2,100 work-study placements have been confirmed for the start of the 2020 academic year.
In order to confront the current period of troubles economic and uncertainty, KEDGE helps support its students in difficulty in the financing of their studies or looking for a work-study programme by its programme of excellence which is synonymous with strong employability. It also helps its corporate partners face the challenges of the crisis. KEDGE has committed to doubling the number of places offered for 2-year apprenticeships in parallel admission and for L3 students in its Grande Ecole Programme. The school has kept its promise.
For more than 15 years, KEDGE has promoted its professional of its students by offering them the opportunity to follow all or part of their studies in the form of work-study programmes,. The work-study programme allows students to combine theoretical training at school with practical training in a company, to discover a profession, and to benefit from an employee status with autonomy, remuneration, and responsibility.
KEDGE created its own CFA institute in April 2020
With the support of the Medef and the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Bordeaux, Marseille, and Toulon, KEDGE created its own CFA in April 2020. It welcomes apprentices on its Bordeaux, Marseille, Paris and Toulon campuses, within general or specialised degree courses, from an associate’s degree to a doctorate, in order to provide training in functions as varied as finance, management, risk, logistics, purchasing, marketing, asset management, finance, etc.
Changes in legislation favourable to work-study programmes
As of the beginning of the 2020 academic year, KEDGE offers the work-study programme as part of most of its specialised programmes. Until now they have only been offered under a professionalisation contract. These two types of contracts pursue the same training objective, but each has its own specific application requirements. Therefore, 300 additional places have been contracted.
The school offers recruitment assistance as well as simplified administrative procedures, in particular through a dedicated platform for the work-study programme contracts.
As for businesses, the financial aid put in place by the government has encouraged recruitment, and the new law on training now allows companies to have access to apprenticeships, regardless of the company’s size or revenues.
"This scheme should allow students to find not just a job, but a job in the company they have chosen, that benefits themselves and the company's welfare", said Christophe Mouysset, KEDGE's Director of Corporate Relations. He added, "Thanks to the full or partial financing of tuition fees for work-study students, the increase of almost 50% in the number of work-study places in our school will provide significant financial support to our students and make it easier for them to find a job at the end of their training.”
Success of the support system
Support by the 300 business partners who have maintained their level of recruitment, as well as the support of graduate ambassadors or recruiters, has made it possible to achieve the targets set.
We have carried out many actions to support our efforts in this regard since March 2020, in accordance with the QUALIOPI quality accreditation (which we obtained in July 2020) and in line with the CFA's missions, including in particular :
- The organisation of two virtual job dating sessions which had more than 1,600 student participants to present themselves for nearly 450 job vacancies.
- Up-to-date work-study offers via the dedicated Jobteaser tool.
- The organisation of specific workshops with company partners for work-study students, such as: "SOS: where can I find an internship or work-study position during the lockdown? ", "Work-study positions: search strategies and preparation for interviews", "Job search strategies during times of crisis ", etc.
- Workshops on preparing CVs and cover letters, Networking, Linkedin, and Research Methodology
- Individual coaching upon request
