On the evening of November 5, 2022, the “KEDGErs Go Green” Annual Gala hosted by KEDGE Business School was crowned with success in Shanghai!
The theme of the gala, “KEDGErs Go Green”, was in line with the school's 2025 strategy. By implementing this strategy, KEDGE Business School is transitioning to a new stage where sustainability and inclusion are at the core of its development strategies.
This Gala was joined by KEDGErs from Global MBA, EMBA, DBA, Master, and Bachelor programmes, their friends, and their family members, who shared a wonderful evening in joy and laughter.
🥂 Gala Warm-up
Before the Gala started, KEDGErs all arrived at the venue early. Since it's not easy to get together under the epidemic, all KEDGErs cherished the short period of time they shared at the gala. While chatting and chilling with old friends at school, KEDGErs also took photos of memorable moments during the night.
Prelude to the Gala
The gala kicked off in Guzheng music around the theme of “KEDGErs Go Green” . The ancient Chinese rhymes were soft yet rigid, and the performers in wide-sleeved Han Chinese dresses danced to the music elegantly.
At the end of the music, four Global MBA participants and alumni took the floor as the hosts of the gala and announced its grand opening in three languages.
💬 Gala Speeches
Mr. Alexandre de NAVAILLES, General Manager of KEDGE Business School, conveyed his sincere greetings and blessings to all the guests via video calling, and expressed regret that he could not attend the gala in person owing to COVID-19 outbreaks. He wished KEDGErs in China a wonderful evening.
Next, Ms. Faye YAN, Operations Director Shanghai of KEDGE Business School, delivered a speech. She welcomed all the guests to the gala and, while reviewing the school’s past and present achievements, expressed her hope for all parties to work together to shape the future.
🏅Awards Presentation to KEDGE Alumni Associations and Announcement of Pilot Alumni Clubs
In 2022, KEDGE alumni associations have been both evolving and expanding. Currently, KEDGE has set up 16 alumni associations in China (3 of which are in phase), including 2 local alumni groups and 14 alumni clubs.
At the Gala, 12 alumni associations were presented with annual awards in recognition of their active development over the past year. The members of the board committees of the alumni associations delivered their award acceptance speeches, reviewing their organizations’ past events and conveying their distinctive organizational philosophy to the KEDGErs at the gala. In particular, the KEDGE Talent Development Club won the “Most Popular Alumni Association of the Year” award by poll at the venue.
Afterwards, the three pilot alumni clubs took the floor, explained their purpose of creation and their future development plans, and welcomed like-minded current students and alumni to join them.
Looking back on the Past at the Reunion after Ten Years
It has been over 10 years in 2022 since the SJTU-KEDGE Global MBA 2011 Intake was enrolled. On such a special occasion, the alumni regathered and delivered a speech for the 10th anniversary. They shared their then Global MBA programme learning journey and expressed their love and nostalgic feelings for their alma mater.
🎙 Sharing Joy through Music and Dances
Subsequently, the children of the KEDGE Kids Club went on stage and performed two original musicals from Earflying Music Theater: The Naive Blues, which was youthful and vibrant; and Do You Hear Me, which was soothing and relaxing. The children's singing held great power and invigorated the audience.
How time flied. The 2019 Intake of the SJTU-KEDGE Global MBA programme had officially transitioned from the role of current students to alumni after the graduation ceremony held in the afternoon on the same day. Graduation signaled both the end and the beginning. At the venue, the 2019 Intake sang together in tribute to their friendship and memories at the school. Good luck to the graduates as they each head for a bright future!
The children of KEDGE Entrepreneurship Club alumni showed their excellent drumming and street dance skills, and together they presented a mash-up performance of four songs, showing their youthful enthusiasm. Their performance was generously applauded by the audience.
Last year, Chris CHEN, alumnus of Global MBA programme 2010 Intake, and his son Ricky were acclaimed for their singing and piano accompaniment performance. This year, the two collaborated again, one singing and the other playing the piano, showing their father-and-son bonding.
This year's KEDGE Annual Gala continued to feature a performance by the first-year participants of the Global MBA programme as the penultimate performance. They presented a wonderful dance show with gentle and soothing jazz music in a warm and inviting atmosphere.

🌍 “Green” Auction House
Alongside the variety of excellent performances were auction events supported by the gala sponsors. In line with the theme “KEDGErs Go Green”, the auctions were held with guests’ number of steps taken on the day and the points they earned from participating in the alumni events at the venue. There were a number of items at the auction, and the rule was that one winning bidder could share the prize with their entire team. Everyone was full of team spirit and was enthusiastic about the auction events.
Lucky Draws at the Gala
The KEDGE Annual Gala was supported by 13 sponsors. More than ten participants won in the lucky draws and took group photos with the sponsors.
Thanks to all the sponsors for their full support of this event! We wish all KEDGErs the best of luck in their future journeys to achieve their dreams and goals!
The night became darker as time passed by, but the gala grew on everyone. Finally, the gala came to an end in joy and laughter.
