Faced with the pandemic, the NOCNOC holiday rental agency unveils its e-shop with 700 handmade linen articles.

To overcome the existential threat caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, NOCNOC, the French leader in short-term rentals of large apartments, unveils NOCNOC Shop - an online shop of 700 items that are 100% linen, sustainable, and handmade in Europe.

NOCNOC unveils its online shop

NOCNOC, a leader in short-term rentals of large apartments and start-up incubated at KEDGE, has unveiled its online shop with a collection of articles made from 100% linen.

2020 has been a year of crisis for French tourism. To tackle this, NOCNOC has decided to reinvent itself by using its knowledge of sustainable interior design.

As frequent changes in tenants cause furniture to be damaged prematurely, NOCNOC has found the compromise between slow consumption & design by dressing its sofas with washable covers made from a noble material: linen. After they found a passionate craftsman, NOCNOC equipped their rentals with linen bedcovers, curtains, and tablecloths.

"The lockdown made us realise how essential it is to feel good at home. It’s also called into question the sustainability of our economic model, which is why we decided to diversify by offering our best products for sale," explained Alice Tourlonias, the company’s founder.

NOCNOC Shop presents a premium selection of useful, eco-friendly, and trendy items, all of which are made from top-of-the-range linen and hand-stitched in Europe.

About NOCNOC

The story of NOCNOC Shop is first of all the story of NOCNOC, the leading French agency for the short-term rental of large apartments.

It all began in 2014 when Alice, a broke student, decided to rent out a room in her flat on Airbnb in order to pay her rent. Her first booking turned out to be the best weekend of her life as she spent it playing tourist guide for foreign travellers.

Time passed, and with it came more and more travellers.  Her reputation as a host was established. Seven years later, NOCNOC has 24 employees and, with 70 flats in Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Toulouse, Montpellier, Nantes, and Bordeaux, NOCNOC had planned to open its first city elsewhere in Europe in 2020.

But the Covid-19 pandemic hit and the success-story turned into a nightmare for NOCNOC, as well as everyone else in the French tourism industry. Alice has had to fight to keep her job and those of her 24 employees, all while juggling the birth of her first child in September 2020.  To face this challenge head-on, she decided to reinvent herself by sharing her favourite heart-felt products with the entire world via NOCNOC Shop.
