Discover Yikes Ties, a stylish "French Touch" tie, which was created by a KEDGE alumnus
Yikes Ties was created in 2016 by Yohan Lafon (ESC, class of 2009). Yann Barthes, the presenter of the show "Quotidien" is a client.
Are you tired of your boring ties that all look the same? Check out Yikes Ties, the tie brand, which was created in 2016 by Yohan Lafon (who graduated from KEDGE Business School in 2009), and offers original and unconventional models, at a fair price.
After obtaining his ESC degree (now PGE) from KEDGE BS in Marseille, Yohan spent 3 years in India, in Bangalore and in Pune. "First I worked for the Economics Department at the French Embassy, then worked as Development Director for a start-up (Fluid Alchemies)" he explains. "Afterwards, I worked for a French company called ACB, where I worked in sales for a year. Then I joined Airbus in France, where I worked as Sales Contracts Manager for Airbus in Toulouse and Offset Manager for Airbus Helicopters at Donauworth in Germany".
But in 2016, Yohan completely switched directions and created the start-up Yikes Ties with four partners.
His tie brand aims to highlight a special know-how and tradition in its creations, while respecting a style "à la française" and the particular know-how of Indian artisans, who are real experts in making fashion accessories. "We are specifically positioning ourselves on the outskirts of what you typically find in fashion, by highlighting quality, creativity, and respect for our workers and the environment" Yohan explains. "We are working on transitioning to making our ties in France in collaboration with a high-quality workshop in Grenoble, called Handysoie" he adds. Handysoie aims to work with experts in tie making and handicapped persons.
Only a year after it was created, Yikes Ties already has several famous clients, including Yann Barthes, the presenter of the show "Quotidien", as well as several sportscasters on Bein Sports and Canal+.
"Embarking on a start-up adventure is an enriching experience because you have to know how to be creative and transgressive at the same time. You have to break all the codes because the main objective is to stand out and offer something different" Yohan explains.
Today, Yohan and his partners are hoping to expand their business and offer products that are "made in France" by launching a crowdfunding campaign, which has already earned 2,400€! Don't hesitate to participate:
