KEDGE Alumni offers a quick zoom on five Kedgers with different perspectives who have established themselves in the commerce, transports, and logistics sectors.
#1 RACHID ASSAS - DIRECTOR OF INDIRECT PURCUREMENT - CARREFOUR
With more than 25 years of experience, this KEDGE Alumnus possesses many international competencies in the sectors of purchasing, business/management, and most recently, in mass distribution.
After he graduated from KEDGE BS in 1989 Rachid Assas began working as a salesperson with Renault the same year. He then became Head of Sales, then Director of Concessions. Until 2015, he handled numerous functions at Renault, then Renault Nissan, both in France and abroad, such as Managing Director for Renault Ireland until 2009, and Director of Indirect Procurement for Renault Nissan between 2011 and 2015 (with a team of 250 spread out over the five continents).
In 2015, this fan of geopolitics and traveling chose to take a new career direction by going to work for the Pierre Fabre group, with the goal of transforming the function of purchasing. Three years later, in 2018, Rachid joined Carrefour as the group’s Indirect Procurement Director.
#2 MICHEL BEAUGIER - MANAGING DIRECTOR - M2 MANAGEMENT
A KEDGE Business School, Michel Beaugier received an associates in economics and philosophy, an MBA in international business, as well as a degree in Finance from INSEAD. Former ski instructor and paraglider with more than 1,000 flights under his belt, Michel spent most of his life in Asia (Japan and Singapore) in the sectors of luxury, fashion, and retail.
After having worked as a consultant for several major distributors in Asia and India, he refocused on French SMEs in the luxury and selective distribution sectors, all while continuing his consulting activities.
Finally, Michel is President of the APAC Commission of Foreign French Trade Advisors, CNCCEF Administrator, and VP of CCE Committee of Singapore.
#3 MARIE HÉLÈNE PASQUIER – SECRETARY GENERAL – UMF
A graduate of KEDGE BS of Marseille origin, Marie Hélène Pasquier has always been attracted to the international dimension of maritime transport.
She began her career in 1981 at the Marseille Chamber of Commerce and Industry as Head of the Higher Centre for International Transport and took part in the formation of a specialisation in international logistics. Very attached to Marseilles and its port, she then became Director of the Syndicat des Transitaires de Marseille (Marseilles Freight Forwarders' Union) in 1989, then that of the Union Maritime et Fluviale de Marseille (Marseilles Maritime and River Union) in 1996.
Marie Hélène’s role is to support the activities of the port in its development ambitions. Today, she is particularly involved in promoting the many assets of and the renewed performance of the port of Marseille-Fos, which contributes to the attractiveness of the territory. Finally, she is a member of the Management Board of MGI, one of the world leaders in IT solutions for the maritime and port sector (Cargo Community System), and a Member of the Development Council of the Port of Marseille-Fos.
#4 ADRIEN DE LA FOURNIÈRE - GENERAL MANAGER - CMA CGM
Graduated with a Master in International Transport & Logistics from KEDGE BS in 2009, Adrien de La Fournière is now the General Manager at CMA CGM (a French transportation and container shipping company).
This Kedger has climbed the ladder. He joined the CMA CGM Group in 2010 as Cargo Flow Coordinator before advancing two years later to the position of Area Manager. In 2014, he became Trade Manager and was in charge of exports out of West Africa for the CMA and Delmas brands.
His career took a turn in 2016 with a promotion to the position of Deputy General Manager Senegal. In that position, he managed an office of more than 80 people, and led the company’s commercial, operational, financial, HR, and financial activities, in addition to developing the implementation of new services. Last August, he was appointed General Manager of CMA CGM Gabon.
#5 CHRISTOPHER CARRILLO – HEAD OF THE LOGISTICS TEAM - AMAZON
Christopher Carrillo, originally from Avignon, France, got an MSc in International Trade & Logistics from KEDGE in September 2018. At the height of the yellow vest movement in December, he went to work for the Amazon Logistics group as Logistics Team Manager at the delivery station located in Bouc-Bel-Air, near Marseille.
The warehouse where he currently works specialises in last-mile deliveries and serves the City of Marseille and the surrounding area. Dozens of heavy goods vehicles are received every day to deliver parcels to Montpellier, Nîmes, Avignon, Toulon, Cannes, and Nice. Its role is to coordinate the shipping operations and provide customers with the most satisfying delivery experience possible by working with independent delivery companies, lorry drivers, and staff whose work is essential to ensure that operations run smoothly.
During the month of December 2019, the entire centre distributed 1,346,436 smiles with the help of Christopher and the 90 employees he managed during that crucial time of the year, and who of course redoubled their efforts to meet the challenges!
